Duties

You will be required to repair, rebuild, modify and test the M777 towed howitzers cannon assemblies . You will inspect, disassemble complete and subassemblies checking for serviceability of parts by using precision instruments, gauges, and electrical test equipment. You will troubleshoot and repair complex interconnected systems including high pressure air, hydraulic, ballistic fire control, GPS tracking and guidance and communications components. You will measure functional characteristics of mechanical, hydraulic and electrical artillery system using gauges, micrometers, multi-meters, bore scopes, laptop computer, pull over gauges, linear measuring devices and other test sets. You will trace and analyze mechanical defects, electrical malfunctions and working with engineering personnel develop changes and modifications by resolving issues related to fit, function and performance.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: Performs rebuild, overhaul, repair and modification on the M777 A-2 Howitzer; Disassembles subassemblies into component parts, and inspects parts for serviceability or refurbishment; Must have a practical knowledge of the purpose and function of towed Howitzer systems, and possess a working knowledge of electricity, pneumatics and hydraulics to repair, rebuild and modify Howitzer systems.
