About the Position: Serves as a Program Support Specialist and oversees the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center H2F Facility by ensuring programs are planned, coordinated, and carried out to meet the diversified needs and interests of a large service population. Position may be filled at either the GS-09 target GS-11 level OR GS-11 level.

Duties

Organizes, schedules, promotes, and oversees activities to include physical fitness, physical therapy, and classes for nutritional, mental, sleep, and spiritual readiness. Develops sound and workable projects and operational details from general plans and schedules to utilize facilities and provide a diversity of individual and unit services. Maintains contacts with unit commanders, giving advice and information as necessary to provide maximum performance enhancement. Schedules or approves use of facilities for individual and group activities and maintains control over use of facilities and equipment assigned for the various activities. Assigns area of responsibilities, develops assignments and schedules in consideration of equipment and supplies, and maintenance requirements. Plans for operation and maintenance of Holistic Health and Fitness Facility (H2F) equipment, facilities, and utilization of personnel for recurring and special activities. Develops and issues standing operating procedures and directives. Plans, directs, coordinates, and manages Holistic Health and Fitness Facility (H2F) activities within the H2F facility. Establishes procedures and policies for preparation and lay out of facilities for use by participants and performance of user maintenance. Receives and responds to Holistic Health and Fitness Facility (H2F) inquiries and requests concerning facilities, schedules, activities, services, and special needs. Reviews and approves plans and schedules submitted by various organizations using the H2F Facility. Directs the execution of the budget of all activities, controls funds, and makes decisions to realign funds.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.

  • Temporary Duty Travel, (TDY) may be required up to 10% of the time.

  • Incumbent will operate a motor vehicle in the performance of duties, a valid driver's license is required.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as:Human Performance, Kinesiology, or Exercise Science, and/or Sport Sciences. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. GS-11: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1.) planning the maintenance of health/fitness equipment and facilities; 2.) managing an operational budget to include expenditure adjustments, developing estimates, cost-effectiveness analysis, funding realignments; and 3.) managing a comprehensive health/fitness program and related events. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Human Performance, Kinesiology, or Exercise Science, and/or Sport Sciences. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Administration and ManagementOral CommunicationPlanning and Evaluating WORKING CONDITIONS: The work requires long periods of standing walking, bending, and climbing for work in the facility and appearance at events. A pre-employment physical is required.
