Employee is supervisor of the Operations Section which operates the plants that provide chilled water and steam generation continuously on a 24 hour, 7 days/week basis for the 33 buildings located on 337 acres at the Medical Center. This includes a laundry building that processes laundry for other medical facilities in addition to Bay Pines. The operation of these plants and systems includes inspection, adjustment and maintenance/repair.
Duties
Duties include, but are not limited to:
Requisition materials, supplies and equipment as needed, schedules delivery.
Make work assignments to Operations Section employees based on priorities, selective considerations of difficulty, the requirements of their assignments, and the capabilities of the employees.
Review the work of employees at intervals to assure quality, effectiveness, efficiency and completeness of work.
Provide technical and administrative advice and instructions to subordinates.
Identifies development and training needs of Operations Section employees, making recommendations to the Assistant Chief, Facility Support Service to provide or make provisions for such development and training.
Oversee contract service personnel while they are working on site, which involves work instructions, directing, problem solving, coordination and work review.

EXPERIENCE: A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position. Evidence which demonstrates you possess the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of this position must be supported by detailed descriptions of such on your resume. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.
Physical Requirements: Work is usually accomplished through work orders, but some tasks are normally completed independently through the use of and in compliance with guides, manuals, codes, VA directives, standards, ordinances, good trade practices and established policies.
Working Conditions: The nature, environment, situation and condition of the work area vary because of the patient care and ongoing setting of a dynamic medical facility. The conditions encountered often pose difficult coordination, planning, and time constraints which make the accomplishment of the assigned tasks challenging to the employee.
