This position is located at Bureau of Engraving and Printing, in the Plumbing and Sheet Metal Shop within the Facilities Support Services Division. As a Plumber, you will install and maintain all gas apparatus, water, and chemical fire lines, refrigerated drinking water, standard plumbing equipment and special equipment peculiar to the Bureau of Engraving and Printing.
Duties
As a Plumber, you will:
Install and repair storm and sanitary sewers, water, and waste lines. sinks, lavatories, toilet bowls, shower baths and toilet accessories, grease traps, water softeners, castor oil, and caustic systems as well as install and maintain automated toilet fixtures.
Install air lines on air compressors and extend same in floor, walls, etc., to provide air under various pressures to trimming machines, off-set and flatbed presses, numbering and sealing machines, steel tempering equipment, air conditioning equipment, laboratory equipment, postage stamp and currency presses, photolitho, electrolytic tanks and water pressure controls, etc. as well as repair all leaks, regulates pressures, repairs valves, and gauges.
Install vacuum pump lines and extend same in floor, walls, etc. to trimming, sizing numbering and sealing machines, postage stamp and currency presses as well as repair leaks, install valves and gauges to regulate vacuum, and clean lines with compressed air.
Install and maintain plumbing utilities to cooking, heating, washing equipment, and grease traps for cafeterias, adhesive tanks, electrolytic plating tanks and scrubbers; photographic processing equipment, sodium hydroxide washing tanks and potable water systems.
Install, clean, and repair leaks on duriron acid proof lines and settling tank used in connection with nitric, sulphuric, hydrochloric acids, etc., from photolithic, electrolytic plating.
