This National Guard position is for a IT SPECIALIST (NETWORK), Position Description Number T5239000 and is part of the 224 ADG, National Guard.

Duties
As a IT SPEC (NETWORK), GS-2210-12, you will serve as a project leader for major network projects relating to the Wide Area Network (WAN) and Local Area Network (LAN) systems. The incumbent functions as the technical coordinator or technical specialist on issues relating to the WAN/LAN systems and their integration with the network.
Requirements

- Work may require access to classified information. Must be able to obtain and maintain top secret security clearance within one year of appointment.
- The incumbent of this position description must have, at a minimum, a completed National Agency Check (NAC) prior to position assignment.
- Irregular and overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies.
- The employee may be required to travel in military and/or commercial aircraft to perform temporary duty assignments.
Qualifications
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: 1-year specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade. Experience that demonstrated accomplishment of computer project assignments that required a wide range of knowledge of computer requirements and techniques pertinent to the position to be filled. This knowledge is generally demonstrated by assignments where the applicant analyzed a number of alternative approaches in the process of advising management concerning major aspects of ADP system design, such as what system interrelationships must be considered, or what operating mode, system software, and/or equipment configuration is most appropriate for a given project. Knowledge of and skill in applying network design principles and concepts, network architecture principles and concepts, network protocols; remote access technology concepts, network operation and maintenance concepts and methods, network management tools, configuration management concepts and practices; network topology concepts; network optimization techniques; and acquisition management policies.
