This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: Works as a clinically licensed Social Worker for a military installation.
Duties
Conduct briefings and outreach services on management and administrative skills to enhance child and family prevention efforts and improve their overall welfare.
Complete initial, and risk assessments, of each parent to include family and child social history and the administration/scoring of the Family Needs Screener (FNS).
Provide interventions to assist in changing their behaviors, attitudes, and values that contributed to the commission of their acts.
Develop a specialized Family Care Plan based on the assessment of the family and their unique needs.
Provide health teachings during home visits, and crisis intervention to evaluate client progress and continuous needs throughout the service delivery.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires regular contact with children under the age 18 and a favorable determination of suitability to do so.
- This position is subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
- Must possess a current valid, unrestricted license to practice social work independently is required recognized by a state or US Territory. You must provide a copy of your license.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Basic Requirement for Social Worker:
Degree: Master's degree (or higher degree) in social work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Experience required: To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job.
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes clinical case work, community outreach, and family violence prevention theory and practice.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).
Licensure/Certification: This position has a licensure requirement. You must provide a copy of your current, active, valid, unrestricted license to practice Social Work independently, offered by a U.S. State, District of Columbia, commonwealth, territory or jurisdiction. Education
FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
