You will serve as a SUPERVISORY FREIGHT RATE SPECIALIST of NAVSUP FLT LOGISTICS CNTR JACKSONVILLE.

Duties

You will determine the legally applicable and most economical rates and routes for shipment of freight by any and all modes of transportation. You will perform shipment planning, vehicle loading plans, prioritization of shipments, consolidation, and staging of material. You will perform the duties as the Transportation Agent who compiles and prepares reports reflecting the distribution of freight among carriers. Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-07) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector coordinating the movement of domestic and foreign freight via a variety of modes of transportation, publishing classifications, tariffs, and tariff routings to make plans and decisions on rates and the routes selected for the movement of freight. Examples of specialized experience may demonstrate the following: 1) Determine the most efficient, legally applicable and economical rates, routes and methods for the movement of freight in accordance with published classification, tariffs and tariff routings; 2) Receive materials and equipment from departments and supported activities for shipment to domestic and foreign destinations; 3) Classify materials into appropriate categories, and identify the need for special packing, loading, or handling, and coordinating arrangements for these needs with other activity personnel as well as with carriers; 4) Process inbound government bills of lading and commercial freight bills or bills of lading to acknowledge receipt of a shipment of cargo; 5) Assign work to subordinates based on employee's capabilities, priorities, difficulty, and carrying out EEO policies.
