This position is located in the Physical Therapy Department of the Whiteriver Service Unit (WRSU), in Whiteriver, AZ. The incumbent is responsible for creating a strategic plan for providing adequate space and equipment suitable for clinical services offered, assisting with proposing and managing a budget, determining the competency and qualifications of support personnel who provide patient care services and actively participates in community education and outreach programs.
Duties

Performs advanced occupational therapy tests and measures to determine the objectives, methods and therapeutic techniques based on patient pathology, functional deficits and physical and cognitive impairments.
Identifies, distributes and balances the workload and tasks among employees in accordance with established workflow. Leads in the area of clinical scheduling by making adjustments as needed to ensure continuity of patient care services throughout the week and holidays.
Oversees equipment/supply inventory, department infection control, safety and hazardous materials. Prepares and recommends estimates of supplies, and equipment needed on both long-term and short-term bases to conduct patient programs.
Plans, organizes and manages the occupational therapy program including such responsibilities as occupational therapy policies and procedures, quality assurance (CQI), risk management and infection control, ongoing Joint Commission (TJC) preparation, strategic planning and monthly and annual reports, attendance at required meetings, patient and staff education, supervision of subordinate personnel, students and volunteers.
Assists with burn and wound care to include appropriate sterile dressing changes, casting or splinting as indicated.
Plans, organizes and supervises programs designed to facilitate age-appropriate cardiovascular function and good fitness, balance alignment, positive and enjoyable leisure-time physical activity.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying.

INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENTS, GS-0631:
Note: Employees currently assigned to positions in this occupational series as of September 2017 will be considered to have met the basic requirements for the position occupied.
An occupational therapy curriculum approved by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) or a professional accrediting organization recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained; and
Completion of the clinical requirements prescribed by the school.
Certification: For all grade levels, applicants must have passed the national examination administered by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT). (Applicant must maintain an unrestricted license.)
In addition to the Individual Occupational Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
GS-11 Grade Level: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Examples include: Program planning, monitoring, and adhering to established Occupational Therapy Performance. Provide Occupational Therapy consultation, evaluation and treatment for inpatient and outpatient clinics. Customize treatment programs to improve one's ability to perform daily activities, job site evaluations, recommendations, performance skills assessment, etc. Promote prevention of injury and/or disease.

Completed three (3) years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree. (Must submit Transcripts)

Combination of education and experience that when combined fully meet the minimum qualifications for this position. The total percentage equals at least 100 percent to qualify for this GS-11 grade level. (Must submit Transcripts)
GS-12 Grade Level: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Examples include: Professional knowledge of a wide range of principles, concepts, and practices of occupational therapy; develop individual treatment programs for patients; provide elbow-wrist-hand evaluation and treatment (i.e. hand therapy); perform examinations and evaluations; interpret findings from examination and evaluations.
