Duties
Provides classroom/operational training for Material Handling Equipment (MHE) requiring licensing, such as forklifts (4K up to and including 36K), stock selectors, cranes, and scooters.
Serves as a certifying and licensing official responsible for issuing US Government Motor Vehicle Operator's Identification Card (OF-346) upon successful completion of all license training requirements.
Provides operator training courses on Class I Electric Rider Trucks, Class II Electric Narrow Aisle Truck (up to 20K capacity), and Container Handler 20 feet and 40 feet (45-tons heavy equipment).
Ensures training is conducive with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's), local policies, and Manufacturer's Safety Regulations.
Controls issuance, suspension, or revocation of applicable driving permits, when operators state license is suspended or revoked and recommends, suspends, or revokes government license in accordance with regulations.
Serves as a training leader over three or more trainers and/or employees in accomplishing trades and labor work.

- Must be able to obtain and maintain licenses and/or certifications required by the installation, federal, state, and local laws.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid state drivers license/certification to operate government vehicles.
Qualifications
Applicants will be rated in accordance with the Office of Personnel Management Qualification Standard for Trades and Labor Occupations. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties at the level for which you are applying. Emphasis is placed on how you gained the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time, and the required ability or potential to perform the job. Applicants who do not meet the screen-out element (SOE) will be eliminated from further competition. The SOE and minimum qualifications for this position is:

PHYSICAL EFFORT: Incumbent will be required to visit warehouses, shops, and work sites for purposes of providing instruction as well as to review or observe processes. May exert moderate to heavy physical effort in climbing on tractors to hook up service liens, lower landing gears, cutting seals and opening container doors, and in climbing on trailer to load or tie down cargo. Exerts moderate physical effort in operating, turning, backing, and controlling vehicles which carry heavier loads. Required to stand on hard surfaces for extended periods of time, bend, stoop, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. May be required to lift and carry items that weigh up to 40 pounds. Heavier items are moved with weight handling equipment or with assistance from other workers.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Approximately 20% of the work is in a classroom or office setting with the balance of work performed in a warehouse, shop, or work-site setting with little or no environmental control. Occasional exposure to noise, dust, dirt, heat, cold, etc. during hands-on equipment training as well as hazards associated with the operation of MHE. Works outside and operates vehicles in all kinds of weather. Drivers are exposed to dirt and fumes, and to the possibility cuts, bruises, and broken bones as a result of accidents while driving or from falling objects when loading and unloading vehicles. May work in areas that are hot, damp, cold, drafty, or poorly lighted and regularly exposed to the possibility of cuts, scrapes bruises, abrasions, falls, and injury from falling stock or mechanized conveyor system and may be exposed to dust, dirt, grease, and solvents and high noise levels in mechanized areas. Must wear appropriate safety equipment as required.
