The incumbent will serve as an Air Conditioning Equipment Operator in the Facilities Engineering Service Line at VA Puget Sound Health Care System, Seattle.
Duties
Duties include but are not limited to:
Install valves, steam traps, regulators, floats, switches, relays, and automatic timers.
Use Utility system trade tools such as pipe threaders, taps, dies, drill press, and gear/bearing pullers.
Select appropriate instruments to be used in installation of utility system equipment.
Operate a modern steam plant.
Operate a central control center.
Operate utility system support systems and equipment.
Troubleshooting and repair of steam plant equipment.
Chemistry control of cooling tower water (open loop).
Troubleshooting and repair of plant support equipment.
Computer control of industrial chillers.
Computer control of power boilers.
Computer control of fire alarm/prevention system.
Perform inspections, preventative, and corrective maintenance of utility systems.
Maintain test equipment and instruments.
Report all unsafe conditions or practices to the supervisor immediately.
Work Schedule: Monday - Sunday 12 hour varying shifts

Physical Requirements: Incumbent makes repairs or adjustments to equipment from ladders, platforms and in cramped or had to reach areas. This requires standing, stooping, bending, climbing, and at times in uncomfortable or tiring positions. Incumbent may be subject to bruises, cuts, burns or other minor injuries.
Working Conditions: Work is performed mostly indoors and, at times, under dirty or greasy conditions. Incumbent may be exposed to foul odors or fumes and uncomfortable heat or cold.
