The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the Events Center manager responsible for leading the Event Center staff and overseeing all facets of full-service events center, performing/executing all tasks associated with the successful fulfillment of program requirements/objectives.

BASIC REQUIREMENT OR INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT:
Education
Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study -- general recreation, or one of the appropriate fields of recreation such as outdoor recreation; recreation and parks leadership; wild land recreation management; natural resources recreation; youth recreation; public, urban, or community recreation; special populations recreation (e.g., senior citizens, institutional, etc.); or physical education.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Specialized Experience (for positions above GS-5): Experience that demonstrated the ability to apply the principles of one or more specialty areas of recreation. Examples of qualifying specialized experience include:
Planning, organizing, coordinating, supervising, or evaluating community, industrial, outdoor, institutional, or other recreational programs.
Planning, establishing, or evaluating a recreational curriculum for junior college or higher academic levels.
Instructing in the principles and techniques of recreational program planning and management.
Serving in a leadership role in the programs and activities of local, regional, and/or national recreational organizations.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least 1 year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at the next lower broadband NH-01, equivalent to the next lower grade GS-04 or equivalent in other pay systems. Specialized experience is experience serving as the Event Center manager responsible for leading the Event Center staff and overseeing all facets of full-service events center, performing/executing all tasks associated with the successful fulfillment of program requirements/objectives.
NOTE: Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement.

The ideal candidate must enjoy and excel at preparing plans and oversees social events for the Team Eglin community, organizes memorable events that exceed quality expectations, assists patrons with their needs, and reports to the Community Support Flight Operations Manager. The employee also provides exemplary service in a manner consistent with the values and mission of the United States Air Force. He or she performs all responsibilities while demonstrating outstanding customer service skills representative as it relates to this function. This includes working interdepartmentally, as well as, with our external customer.
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-04 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-05 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of the principles, methods, and techniques for planning, implementing, and managing a large-scale events center program offering a variety of community activities and skill in developing, implementing, and managing a wide range of recreational programs, services and community activities.
2. Ability to inspire, motivate, and guide others toward goal accomplishment. Leadership ability, including the ability to teach and mentor lower graded personnel assigned and ability to model high standards of honesty, trust, openness, and respect.
3. Knowledge of the various methods, techniques, and procedures for publicizing recreational programs and activities through all available media (TV, radio, base-wide email, newspapers, flyers/brochures); and skill in publicizing and promoting recreational programs and activities.
4. Knowledge of the tools, methods, and techniques for assessing and analyzing the recreational needs of a large and diverse serviced community; and skill in applying this knowledge to improve the community.
5, Skills in written and oral communication to write and submit a wide variety of reports and other material and to prepare and present briefings for a variety of audiences.
6. Skill in the effective management of financial, physical, and other resources of events center programs.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
