This position is a Park Ranger (Visitor Services), GS- 0025-11/12 working for U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Region 6, Division of Visitor Services and Outreach. Only one position will be filled in one of the following locations: Alamosa, CO, Brigham City, Commerce City, CO or Lakewood, CO.

Duties

The salary will be based upon duty station and locality pay once selected. Locality tables may be found at: https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/pay-leave/salaries-wages/2024/general-schedule As a Park Ranger (Visitor Services) your duties will include but are not limited to the following: Serves as the regional lead for two or more visitor services programs (e.g., Urban Wildlife Conservation Program, Recreation Fees Program, Volunteers). This role includes, but is not limited to, providing support and technical assistance to field station staff on program policy, management, and recordkeeping; identifying needs and opportunities; and communicating with field station staff about new and innovative products and processes. Serves as a zone visitor services manager for two or more states. Within the assigned geographic area, provides technical assistance and guidance to field station staff in the development of communication/education products (e.g., publications, interpretive panels, interpretive exhibits, apps), recreational facilities (e.g., trails, observation decks), and overall visitor services programs. Using appropriate planning tools, works with field station staff and others to evaluate visitor services programs in order to make recommendations for future visitor services efforts. Serves as a key member of the regional visitor services management team, participating on both regional and national teams that address visitor services issues and policy. Qualifications

Only experience and education obtained by 09/25/2024 will be considered. In order to qualify for this position, you must possess Minimum Qualification. Minimum Qualification GS-11 A. I have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 grade level in federal service that equipped me with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience may include: being responsible for multiple aspects of a comprehensive visitor services program for a conservation area, such as serving as a visitor center manager; acting as a liaison with a Friends organization or other community organization; implementing visitor services policy for a conservation area; and developing interpretive/education products such as brochures, panels, and exhibits. (OR) B. I have 3 years of progressively higher-level graduate education or Ph.D., or equivalent doctoral degree related to the occupation. Major study: natural resource management, natural sciences, earth sciences, history, archeology, anthropology, park and recreation management, law enforcement/police science, social sciences, museum sciences, business administration, public administration, behavioral sciences, sociology, or other closely related subjects pertinent to the management and protection of natural and cultural resources. NOTE: Transcripts required. (OR) C. I possess a combination of qualifying specialized experience and qualifying graduate education (both as described above) that, when computed as percentages of their respective requirements, equals at least 100% when combined. Only education beyond the second graduate year (36 semesters or equivalent) is creditable using this method. NOTE: Transcripts required, and your resume must contain sufficient information at this level of work, e.g., complete begin/end dates, hours worked per week, duties performed, etc., for each period of work for consideration to meet this standard. Minimum Qualification GS-12 I have at least one (1) year of full-time specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in federal service that equipped me with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Such experience would include: Such experience may include: being the lead for a comprehensive visitor services program for a single conservation area or providing guidance for a broader geographic area in certain aspects of visitor services; experience in an individual conservation area which includes: serving as the lead visitor center manager; being the lead liaison with a Friends organization or other community organization; interpreting and implementing visitor services policy; leading or co-leading the development of interpretive/education products such as brochures, panels, and exhibits; and analyzing existing programs and facilities to determine if they are meeting visitor needs. Experience in a broader geographic area includes: providing guidance and expertise for multiple field station visitor services programs; acting as a regional coordinator for specific visitor services programs, initiatives, and policies; or serving on visitor services regional or natural resource teams to develop new programs and policies. NOTE: Transcripts required, and your resume must contain sufficient detail of this level of work, i.e., complete begin/end dates, hours worked per week, duties performed, etc. for each timeframe for consideration. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Time In Grade Requirement: Applicants must meet both eligibility and qualification requirements for the position of interest by the closing date of the JOA. Specifically, i. Education

PROOF OF EDUCATION: All applicants who are using education or a combination of education and experience to qualify must submit copies of official or unofficial transcripts which include grades, credit hours earned, major(s), grade point average or class ranking, institution name, and student name. If any required coursework is not easily recognizable on transcripts, or if you believe a portion of a particular course can be credited toward meeting an educational requirement, you must also provide a memorandum on letterhead from the institution's registrar, dean, or other appropriate official stating the percentage of the course that should be considered to meet the requirement and the equivalent number of units. PASS/FAIL COURSES: If more than 10 percent of your undergraduate course work (credit hours) were taken on a pass/fail basis, your claim of superior academic achievement must be based upon class standing or membership in an honor society.

GRADUATE EDUCATION: One academic year of graduate education is considered to be the number of credits hours your graduate school has determined to represent one academic year of full-time study. Such study may have been performed on a full-time or part-time basis. If you cannot obtain your graduate school's definition of one year of graduate study, 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) should be considered as satisfying the requirement for one year of full-time graduate study.
