You will serve as a Supervisory Engineering Technician in the Engineering & Planning Department (Code 200) of PSNS and IMF.
Duties
You will provide all necessary managerial and administrative duties to meet broad level goals and initiatives in technical planning for projects.
You will assign work to subordinates based on priorities, selective consideration of the difficulty and requirements of assignments, and capabilities of employees.
You will review engineering instructions and procedures and develop new approaches and modify standard practices, techniques and/or procedures which encompass a wide variety of disciplines and functional organizations.
You will ensure that all engineering products are effectively planned and integrated into the total shipyard productive effort to successfully achieve project objectives.
You will analyze and advise on effectiveness of engineering and planning programs, operations, methods, techniques, and processes.
You will utilize advanced concepts of project management and ship overhaul fundamental methods in defining, organizing, coordinating, monitoring, and directing major pre-planning efforts for multiple projects.
You will utilize your background and training to establish, update, or improve engineering department processes.
You will apply practical construction, properties, operations, and limitations functions to engineering systems, processes, structures, machinery, devices and materials.

- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
- Position could require recurring walking, stooping, bending, crawling or climbing.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: analyzing, determining, or modifying technical engineering and planning methods or processes for identifying, evaluating or recommending solutions and resolving issues to ensure effective department operations.
