The Food Service Worker (Call Center) position is to assist patients with meal ordering, following the primary and additional diet orders. As well as ensuring patients not participating in the Room Service program, receives meals/nourishments in a timely manner.
Duties
Major duties include but are not limited to:
Receives diet information from wards via computer.
Transcribes and maintains corrections, changes, menus, electronic cardex, meal tickets and/or electronic orders or requests.
Affixes labels and other information, which includes patient name, date, and location of patient on individual patient tray delivery slips.
Prints supplemental feeding list with patient information for transport with nourishments.
Processes all other diet orders according to standard operating procedures.
Notifies kitchen personnel promptly when special diets or special items are needed.
Transfers all standing orders from the generated tray ticket to the select menu to ensure patient's tray is accurate as per patient's needs and/or food preferences.
Standard, non-select meals will be provided for patients who do not make meal selections
Uses a computer terminal to record and retrieve recipes, menu, and inventory data to produce print-outs of such information for various work units in the kitchen.
Complete daily reports per department's need and act as necessary
Work Schedule: Days and Hours vary to include weekends and holidays

Physical Requirements: The work is performed in kitchen areas where the steam and heat from cooking and dishwashing equipment often cause uncomfortably high temperatures and humidity. The work area is well-lighted but usually noisy from food service activities, and there is danger of slipping on floors where food or beverages have been dropped. Food service workers are regularly exposed to hot liquids, sharp cutting blades, hot working surfaces, and extreme temperature changes when entering walk-in refrigeration or freezing units.
