This position is located at Bureau of Engraving and Printing, within the Security and Investigations Division. As a Lead General Investigator, you will perform a variety of duties including security determinations, monitoring case development, and coordinating assignments. Also, you will personally conduct or direct the more complex, high-profile investigations or studies.

Duties

As a Lead General Investigator, you will: - Articulate and communicate to the Investigative team the assignments, projects, milestones, and program issues under review, and the deadlines and time frames for completion of complex investigations. - Coach team members in the selection and application of appropriate problem-solving methods and techniques, provide advice on work methods, practices, and procedures, and assist staff with identifying the parameters or a viable solution. - Ensure Reports of Investigations (ROI) meet consistency and thoroughness standards and meet timeliness and completeness objectives. - Oversee the planning, organization, and the conduct of OIG referral investigations. - Conduct complex criminal investigations that involve the preparation of prosecution data of major violators of the Federal Employees Compensation Act.

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement. Bureau of Engraving and Printing has a memorandum of understanding the U.S. Office of Personnel Management that requires each investigator to have the required education or experience as follows: a. A college degree (bachelor's); or b. Four years of general experience; or c. Two years of specialized experience within the last 5 years; or d. One year of specialized Federal background investigation experience within last 5 years. General experience is progressively responsible experience that demonstrates the ability to problem solve, analyze problems to identify significant factors, gather pertinent data and recognize solutions, plan and organize work and communicate effectively orally and in writing on a professional level. Specialized Experience is progressively responsible experience conducting general background investigations or as a local, state, military or Federal law enforcement officer. Specialized Federal background investigation experience is experience conducting background investigations for a federal agency. Specialized Experience for the GS-13: One year of experience at the GS-12 level, or equivalent, that is directly related to the position and which has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized Experience for this position includes: - Establishing and maintaining partnerships regarding personnel security investigations. AND - Preparing reports and investigations for indications of improper activities and identifying potential problems. AND - Providing technical advice and assistance concerning security clearance and investigative procedures and requirements regarding the status of personnel security investigations. In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable: For the GS-13, you must have been at the GS-12level for 52 weeks.
