You will serve as an ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN in the PUBLIC WORKS DIVISION of NAV FACILITIES ENGINEERING COMMAND SE. Duties

You will collect test data, analyze results, and relate findings to specific operability issues. You will monitor energy usage data to determine corrective action in support of energy cost reduction. You will brief management to provide programs status, updates or other business information. You will serve as engineering support to prepare scope or design requirements, specifications, and cost estimates for contractual bids.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Collecting and reporting utility meter readings; 2) Coordinating utility outage requests; 3) Performing locate services of underground utility lines for shops and contractors; 4) Reviewing utility infrastructure, equipment and services for all installation capabilities and effectiveness; 5) Reviewing specifications and cost estimates for all utility construction projects; 6) Gathering and analyzing data to determine reliability of utility distribution systems; 7) Preparing forecasts for utility distribution system planning and budgets; 8) Utilizing specialized computer programs and databases associated with utility billing and usage; 9) Providing public works environmental and safety oversight of utilities distribution systems; and 10) Evaluating the physical condition of utilities through reports, on-site audits and inspections.
