About the Position: This position is located at the Directorate of ADMIN Health Benefits at Naval Medical Center San Diego CA.
Duties
Receives Health benefits inquiries directly from beneficiaries.
Coordinate with appropriate points of contact for information, assistance and delivery of needed medical service.
Counsel beneficiary, clarify benefits, identify applicable options and provide advice of the most advantageous action.
Analyzes, researches, and presents estimate of applicable deductibles and co-payments.
Help determine best coverage under the TRICARE program based on beneficiary's medical needs.
Verifies eligibility and identifies medical care for foreign members under the international reciprocal healthcare agreements.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period.
- This position is subject to screening and update of required immunizations unless exempted for medical or administrative reasons in accordance with Army Regulation 40-562, Chapters 3 and 4.
- This position requires the completion of an Occupational Health pre-employment Physical Examination.
- You may be expected to travel 5% of the time for this position

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. GS-08 Specialized Experience: I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service which includes: (1) counseling patients on TRICARE benefits; and (2) reviewing medical claims for accuracy and correction; and (3) giving formal presentations on health care benefits to beneficiaries and/or civilian organizations.
Education cannot be substituted for experience.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
