About the Position: Serves as a Clemency Assistant (Office Administrator) under the direction of the Board Manager, processes parole modification cases and final disposition of all parole, Mandatory Supervised Release (MSR), and clemency cases.

Duties

Develop and maintain case files, master history and policy files, and all related correspondence. Receive all telephone calls and visitors into the agency, referring to appropriate staff as necessary or furnishes information requested. Independently determine information for reply to inquiries matters, office procedures, non-technical and limited technical aspects of office programs. Schedule and coordinate hearings, to include personal appearance boards; schedule conference rooms and ensures space is adequate for the number of attendees; arranges for all support requirements.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.
  • One year trial/probationary period may be required.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-7). OR Education: One and a half years of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as business administration. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond one year (total semester hours minus 18) by 9. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Administration and ManagementCustomer Service (Clerical/Technical)Written Communication Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-7).
