About the Position: Serves as a Construction Representative of the Government and a nonprofessional assistant to the project engineer in charge of construction contracts and maintenance and repairs, located in Fort Buchanan near San Juan, Puerto Rico, within a short drive from the Luis Muñoz Marin International Airport.

Duties

Maintains contact with construction quality and control personnel during all phases of the construction work in progress, inspecting construction materials and methods from beginning to a completion of project. Interprets contract plans, specifications, special requirements, acceptable construction practices Prepares, reviews, and submits daily inspection and progress reports showing such data as major items of work performed, labor and equipment used, material and equipment received Interprets safety plans and regulations to contractors or their representatives, and inspects contractors' plant, workmanship, practices, materials, equipment, and premises for conformance

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • There is the additional discomfort of wearing required safety equipment such as hard hat, ear protection, and safety shoes, as required by regulations.
  • There are inherent dangers consistent with the work at a construction site, including moving machinery and electrical hazards.
  • Work is performed day or night, alone or accompanied by other employees.
  • Obtain and maintain a Tier 3 Secret Clearance
  • Incumbent must possess a valid driver's license.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to undergo periodic physical examinations and/or evaluations under the Medical Surveillance Program
  • Work is performed both in and outdoors and requires incumbent to be able to walk, stoop, and climb stairs.
  • May require the use of personal protective clothing or equipment.
