This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: A Clinical Child Psychologist in connection with the Developmental Behavioral Family Readiness Center (DBFRC).
Duties
Carries out psychological assessments for children referred to the Developmental Behavioral Family Readiness Center (DBFRC) for children who exhibit chronic behaviors of unsatisfactory adjustment or have a chronic history of emotional impairment.
Applies psychological principles, theories, methods and techniques in the delivery of clinical child psychological services in the health care setting of the DBFRC program.
Evaluates referred clients for educational eligibility or early intervention and treatment planning.
Serves as case manager for assigned cases.
Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with developmental pediatrician and primary care providers.
Identifies appropriate interventions for children and adolescents with special needs.
Refines programs and implements best-practice approaches within the specialty area of child clinical psychology.
Provides case-centered consultation to other providers within the region on mental health related issues.
Provides the customer with consistent information according to established policies and procedures.
Prepares statistical reports, narrative summaries, and other administrative tasks as necessary.
Requirements
- This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random drug testing, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time to various locations. This may require travel on military aircraft, ships, and vehicles.
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position has specific initial background investigation and periodic re-verification requirements since its duties require interaction with children and youth under the age of eighteen (18) years of age on a recurring basis.
- This position has mandatory seasonal Influenza vaccination requirements and is subject to annual seasonal Influenza vaccinations unless otherwise exempted for medical or religious reasons (documentation of exemption must be provided upon hire).
- Applicants must be able to fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges.
- A Personnel Security Investigation is required.

Basic Requirement for Clinical Psychologist (Pediatrics) Position:
Degree: Doctoral Degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) directly related to full professional work in clinical psychology.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Specialized Experience:One year of specialized experience which includes a child, pediatric or adolescent treatment population: conducting psycho-diagnostic assessments; developing treatment plans; and providing individual or group therapy. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
Licensure: A current, active, valid, and unrestricted clinical license to practice Psychology independently from a U.S. State, the District of Columbia, Commonwealth, territory, or jurisdiction is required.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
