About the Position: The incumbent in this position provides operations research competence at the US Army Combat Readiness Center (USACRC), located at Fort Novosel, AL.
Duties
Provides operations research competence at the US Army Combat Readiness Center (USACRC).
Conducts analysis to provide decision makers with sound, scientific qualitative, and quantitative information as a basis for decision making.
Performs operations research of the broad work type "methods development and assessment."
Performs statistical analysis to ensure a meaningful conclusion.
Develops multi¬ disciplinary solutions to complex problems.
Assess analytic studies being conducted with external agencies or under contract.
Defines problems, issues, and questions relating to macro¬ level analysis to ensure requirements are clear.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Position requires approximately 10% temporary duty (TDY) travel.

Basic Requirement for Operations Research Analyst, GS-1515-13:
Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in operations research; or a degree with at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics. At least 3 of the 24 semester hours must have been in calculus.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes; leading independent research, experimental design, and statistical analysis studies; utilizing new analytical developments, methodologies, programming language such as R and Python for statistical computing and data visualization and/or research findings to conduct studies of an unprecedented nature; developing recommendations which lead to program improvements; providing advice and instruction on work related matters; and applying analytical techniques to develop evaluation plans that encompass detailed problem analysis, data collection and verification, data evaluation and a complex Systems analysis of the results.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
