The incumbent serves as supervisor of the sanitation section aligned under Enviromnental Management Service at the Tuscaloosa VA Medical Center. The incumbent will also supervise Incentive Therapy, Work-Study, Compensated Work Therapy and Volunteer employees. The purpose of this position is to exercise technical and administrative supervision over subordinate workers in accomplishing housekeeping work for the medical center.
Duties
Major Duties of this position include but not limited to:
The incumbent works independently in the accomplishment of assignments, seeking technical assistance as needed.
Work is performed regularly and recurring and on a substantially full-time and continuing basis.
The incumbent assists in supply control used in the sections and is responsible for submitting request for re-stock and/or new materials and equipment.
Initiate work orders and support the Preventive Maintenance Program.
The cumbent assures direct relief of other like supervisors so as to ensure continuity of supervisory coverage of all areas of responsibility.
Reports directly to the Housekeeping Aid Supervisor (WS-3) on findings following inspections and issues identified.
Completes and submits as assigned systematic review of operations.
Tests new equipment and cleaning agents and submits recommendations as appropriate.
Incumbent maintains production reports and records.
Incumbent applies specific knowledge in the prevention and control of infection and communicable diseases in the Medical Center environment.
He/she conveys this knowledge to other like supervisors, leaders, and EMS labor force so that proper sanitation procedures are applied in daily operations.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: 7am-3:30pm or 3:30 pm- Midnight (including weekends and holidays)

Preferred Experience: Previous Supervisory experience, administrative experience in Microsoft Office Suite, work order system knowledge, Leadership ability, Organized and efficient.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: Considerable physical effort is exerted during the course of daily activities such as standing, bending, stooping, lifting, and climbing. Frequently lifts or moves objects up to 40 pounds and occasionally objects over 50 pounds.
