Duties
As a Painter Worker you will be responsible for the following duties (If selected at the WG-07 level, the below duties will be performed in a developmental capacity.):
Paints a wide variety of equipment and/or material utilizing painting techniques. Must have knowledge of accepted surface preparation and coating methods and techniques, including those used for special effects, e.g. marbling, mottling and graining.
Maintains painting equipment in a clean and operable condition. Controls supply and tracks quantity of items used. Ensures proper disposal of all used or excess materials in accordance with appropriate government regulations.
Required to operate hoists or forklifts capable of lifting to 15,000 pounds

- This position and any future selections from this announcement may be used to fill various shifts located within DLA Distribution Ogden, Hill AFB, Utah.
- Licenses/Certifications: Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Material Handling Equipment (MHE) license.
- Licenses/Certifications: Must be able to obtain and maintain licenses and/or certifications required by the installation, federal, state, and local laws.

Qualifications
Applicants will be rated in accordance with the Office of Personnel Management Qualification Standard for Trades and Labor Occupations. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties at the level for which you are applying. Emphasis is placed on how you gained the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time, and the required ability or potential to perform the job. Applicants who do not meet the screen-out element (SOE) will be eliminated from further competition.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Physical Effort: Prepares and coats surfaces from ladders, scaffolds, and platforms and where surfaces to be coated are in cramped and hard to reach places. Must stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently lifts, carries, and sets up materials and equipment that weigh up to 50 pounds. Occasionally may handle material and equipment that weighs up to 75 pounds or over. Must be able to distinguish colors and shades of colors.
Working Conditions: Works indoors and outdoors in all types of climatic conditions. Works above floor and ground level. Works in forces ventilated areas. Occasionally works in poorly ventilated or illuminated areas and around unpleasant
odors. Subject to falls from ladders, staging and scaffolds. Subject to eye irritation from paint, scale, and trash. Illness from inhalation of fumes and skin irritation from various types of paint material. Employee may be subjected to discomfort of wearing respirator, goggles, protective clothing, and other safety equipment.
