About the Position: The position is located on Fort Moore, GA, Directorate of Plans, Training, Mobility & Security, The "Maneuver Center of Excellence" is located 100 miles south of Atlanta and is adjacent to Columbus, GA Phenix City, AL. The area and climate are ideal for year-round military training. Public transportation is available.
Duties
Operate the Range Control Fire Desk Communication Center for all Fort Benning ranges, training areas, training facilities and airspace missions.
Identify potential safety hazards during daily activities and coordinates with Range Safety Patrols to de-conflict dangerous and potentially hazardous training events, both inside and outside live fire training areas.
Serve as Resource Scheduler for Fort Benning ranges, training areas, training facilities and airspace through the Range Facility Management Support System (RFMSS).
Perform Airspace Advisory Control.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles and operate a 4x4 vehicle over unimproved cross-country terrain.
- This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations (natural or man-made disaster) the incumbent is required to report to work/remain at work.
- This position is covered by the 1996 lautenberg amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968. Persons convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence are not eligible for this position.
- This position requires shift work you must be able to work on a rotational and/or shift basis 24 hours per day over 7 days per week
- This position is a Testing Drug Position (TDP) and is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).
