The primary purpose of this position is to perform the full range of electroplating operations on new or unusual work including operations that require plating or treatment of limited or precisely defined areas on parts.

Duties

Independently performs the full range of electroplating operations to include surface modification technologies on precisely defined areas of new or unusual areas of aircraft engine and aircraft components while ensuring adherence of metallic deposits or coatings with the use of precision control of the electrolytic or chemical process. Incumbent independently performs precision electroplating operations using specialized reusable conforming anodes. Independently works with engineering to develop and prototype new anodes, fixtures, and repair processes. Independently performs high speed silver-plating on seal or bearing surfaces that are subject to lubrication and masks with wax or electroplating tape to avoid chemical damage to surface areas that are not to be plated and to prevent loss of valuable silver. Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C. QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-3700 Metal Processing Family. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. The screen out element for this position is: The Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision.
