Duties
You will Respond to directions from pilots for the positioning of vessels.
You will Follow established practices and maritime laws to provide continuously reliable and safe operation of vessels.
You will Evaluate electronic instrumentation to recommend repairs or identify needed upgrades.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.

- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- Work requires climbing ladders, stepping over bulkheads, lifting (up to 40 pounds), standing and walking for an extended period of time.
Qualifications
This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: THE ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION. Your resume must show that you have the ability to perform common tasks including:
1. Knowledge of line handling, the ability to lead and direct others in the performance of tugboats operation and repair.
2. Thorough knowledge of safety and housekeeping regulations, methods, and procedures.
3. Ability to maintain Department of the Navy Craft Master Qualifications (NAVEDTRA 43499-A).
4. Possess and maintain current U.S. Coast Guard Master, 100-ton gross weight, uninspected towing vessel, near coastal, with radar
observer endorsement.
5. Must be first aid and CPR qualified.
