This position is located in the Data Analytics Research Branch (DARB), Office of Strategic Planning, Initiative Development, and Analysis (OSPIDA), Office of Science Management and Operations (OSMO), Office of the Director (OD), National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), National Institutes of Health (NIH), Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS).
Duties
As a Lead Health Science Policy Analyst, some of your duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:
Consults with the Branch Chief to determine Branch priorities and timelines, prioritizes requests for analyses and analytical research activities of the assigned staff.
Performs quantitative and qualitative analyses of large, complex volumes of data associated with programmatic and scientific portfolios.
Provides expert advice and guidance to the Branch Chief, DARB as well as other senior Institute officials, in data and portfolio analytics and data analytical research methodology for science management.
Keeps the Branch Chief informed of key analyses to guide future policies and program direction.
Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship requirement or proof of being a U.S. National must be met by closing date.

Qualifications
To qualify for the Lead Health Science Policy Analyst GS-601-14 level, you must meet the following qualification requirements:
Education Requirement:
You must posses a Bachelor's degree, or graduate/higher level degree with major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of this position. (This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained).
Additional Qualifications:
You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-13) in the Federal Service obtained in either the private or public sector that equips me with the knowledge, skills and abilities required to successfully perform the duties of this position, such as the following: 1) developing and coordinating science policy, planning, evaluation, and policy analysis for a biomedical research organization; 2) assessing the effectiveness of science policy and data and portfolio analysis functions in meeting organizational goals and objectives; 3) conducting and coordinating policy and technical analyses; and, 4) providing guidance and oversight to other staff.
