About the Position:
This position is with the Department of Defense Education Activity in the Pacific West District and is part of the Andersen Air Force Base Schools Community.
This position is covered by the FEA-SR Classified Federal Education Association Stateside Region bargaining unit.
Federal employees in Guam are currently entitled to receive a 12.04% Cost of Living Allowance (COLA) in addition to the base salary. (Rate is subject to change.)
Duties
Enter and retrieve information in the School Management System (SMS) database.
Prepare a variety of letters, messages, memoranda, reports, etc., in the correct format, spelling, punctuation, and grammar.
Prepare and track purchase requests, forwarding all billing requests to the appropriate agency.
Order, maintain, and display controlling regulations, publications, and required forms that may have been issued by a variety of sources.
Respond to letters of inquiry whenever possible, routing to the principal or assistant principal correspondence requiring their personal attention.
Manage all files and records related to school correspondence/mail distribution, and Freedom of Information Act data.
Requirements
- Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Requirement.
- Proof of U.S. Citizenship required.
- Direct deposit of pay is required.
- One-year probationary period may be required.
- Appointment subject to a suitability/fitness determination, as determined by a background investigation.
- This position requires a Tier 1 (T1) investigation with Childcare Checks since its duties require interaction with children and youth under the age of eighteen (18) years of age.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: using computers to create documents and generate reports, maintainning personnel files, and managing supplies. This definition of specialized experience is typical work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).

Education: 4 years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial, or technical school, junior college, or university.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.
Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.
Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) positions within the last 52 weeks may not be promoted more than 2 grades within the preceding 52 weeks.
Education
FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
