Duties

Directs and motivates Police Officers and Special Officers on a daily basis in one of the two 12-hour shifts in law enforcement. Oversees the dispatcher operations and duties involving passing of directions and information to officers on patrol assignments. Assigns, and directs work assignments for Police Officers and Special Police Officers assigned to stationary posts, vehicular and foot patrols, and special duties. Review reports including loss, theft, incident, attendance, activity, assignment, fire, and inventory reports to ensure thy are free of grammatical and format errors and be easily read. Establish working knowledge and be able to oversee the immediate initiation and implementation of GPO's Emergency Notification Systems.

Requirements

• You must be a current Career or Career Conditional GPO employee to apply.
• Selectee may be required to pass preemployment requirements prior to appointment.
• Selectee must be able to obtain and maintain Secret Clearance.
• Selectee must undergo a background investigations for a High Risk Secret Clearance.
• Firearms Requirement: This is a law enforcement position that is mandatory for officers to carry and maintain bi-annual proficiency with the firearm.
• Selectee may be required to serve a one-year supervisory probationary period.
• TIME-IN-GRADE REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must meet time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. Applicants must have served 1 year at the next lower grade level or equivalent grade level of federal service to qualify
• Selectee must have obtained a passing physical fitness test (PFT), psychological examination, and medical examination prior to appointment.
• Selectee must have an annual medical examination.

Qualifications

To qualify for the Supervisory Police Officer, PQ-0083-7, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the PQ-06 grade level in the Federal Service that includes: 1) Directing the work of law enforcement engaged in specified enforcement programs/operations, 2) Overseeing police officers performing patrol, checkpoint, and related law enforcement/protective duties, 3) Providing administrative and technical supervision in law enforcement practices and policies, and 4) Working with federal, state, and local agencies concerning investigations involving incidents of mutual interest. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement (09/20/2024) to be considered.

Substitution of education in lieu of specialized experience may not be used for this grade level.
