About the Position: Staff pharmacist will rotate between Main, TMC1 and TMC2 pharmacies. The hours of the shifts are 0600-1500, 0630-1730, 0700-1600 and 0800-1700. TMC1 will be working alone all other locations have technicians assigned also.
This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
Duties
Verifies that the prescribed medication is within safe dosage ranges
Maintaining all medication records required by law
Researching medical literature and/or clinical medication information to provide accurate responses to inquiries
Establishing medication-handling procedures for the storage and preservation of medications
Planning, monitoring and evaluating medication programs or regimens
Performing administrative, consultative, or staff advisory work for a medical facility’s pharmacy program
Evaluating medication use patterns and outcomes for patients in hospitals or managed care organizations
Dispensing medications prescribed by physicians and other health practitioners and providing information to health practitioners and patients about proper usage of medications and side effects
Reviews prescriptions set up by pharmacy technicians from volume or prepackaged stores.
Reviews the prescriptions against the patient’s medication profile, and patient record
Dispenses pharmaceuticals to outpatients
Verifies that the prescribed medication is within safe dosage ranges
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- All applicants tentatively selected for this position will be required to submit a urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
- This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random drug testing, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
- Tier 1: This position is subject to a background investigation to determine your suitability for Federal employment.
- Hepatitis B: Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
- Influenza: This position has mandatory seasonal Influenza vaccination requirements
- Tuberculosis (TB): This position requires the incumbent to have Tuberculosis testing.
- Credentialing: This position requires the incumbent to fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges.
- Physical: This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.

In order to qualify, you must meet the Education and/or Experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Basic Requirement for Pharmacist:
Education: A doctoral degree in Pharmacy that is recognized by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.
Exemption: You are exempt from the basic requirements above if you are a current federal employee occupying a position in the 0660 occupational series and have been continuously employed in this occupational series since September 27, 2017 or before. Note: You will be required to provide appropriate documentation to the respective Human Resources Office to validate your status.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Licensure: A current, active, valid, and unrestricted license to practice pharmacy in a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
Medical Requirement: Must be able to distinguish basic colors.
Specialized Experience: One year of one year of professional pharmacy experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service which includes demonstrated experience Dispensing medications prescribed by physicians and other health practitioners and providing information to health practitioners and patients about proper usage of medications and side effects; Evaluating medication use patterns and outcomes for patients in hospitals or managed care organizations; Performing administrative, consultative, or staff advisory work for a medical facility's pharmacy program; Planning, monitoring and evaluating medication programs or regimens; Establishing medication-handling procedures for the storage and preservation of medications; Researching medical literature and/or clinical medication information to provide accurate responses to inquiries; and/or Maintaining all medication records required by law.

Education: Successful completion of 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree, Ph.D., Pharm.D. or equivalent doctoral degree.
