This position is located at the Mashpee Wampanoag Health Service Unit-IHS, Mashpee, MA. and serves as Medical Records Technician. The incumbent provides specialized assistance in the processing and maintenance of medical records in the form of Electronic Health Record (EHR) hybrid environment, for compliance with regulatory requirements.
Duties
Performs quality checks and communicates with the appropriate individuals to address deficiencies identified when analysis documents reveals deficiencies.
Performs a comprehensive review and verification by data ensuring the correct patient data is appropriate before scanning is processed.
Responsible for ensuring paper packets are available for all wards.
Scans approved documents into the Electronic Health Records System.
Files health information documents into the patient's charts.
Composes response to routine request for release of information.
Qualifications

You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
BASIC REQUIREMENT(S):
GS-6: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-5 grade level.
In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Experience abstracting data from a medical record; performing chart analysis; and follow well-established medical records procedures.
Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
