About the position: This position will be assigned to the Club on Keesler Air Force Base. This position is considered regular part time. You are guaranteed 20 hours, however you could work up to 40 hours per week. As a regular part time employee, you are eligible to earn annual leave, sick leave, and sign up for benefits, to include health/life insurance, 401k, and NAF retirement..

Duties

Incumbent reports to the Club Business Manager. Promotes club's dining facilities for private banquets, business meetings, social meetings, and other member-related activities. Responsible for conducting community outreach on base, to include personal visitation and meetings as well as cold calling, in an effort to garner business for the activity. Develops contracts for and oversees all administrative and operational aspects of preparing and serving events. Promotes, advertises, and markets the club's social events facilities and capabilities to all members. Helps clients arrange banquets, luncheons, meetings, weddings, dances and other social events. Obtains pertinent information needed for guest planning. Provides guest tours, and offers suggestions in efforts to sell the club's facilities for the occasions being planned. Works with the Business Manager to determine selling prices, menus and other details for catered events, and oversees the development of contracts. Suggests and helps guests plan menus in conjunction with the Manager and/or other culinary personnel. Transmits necessary information to and coordinates event planning with production staff, serving staff, and housekeeping staff. Arranges the printing of menus, and other special requests. Inspects finished arrangements; oversees the actual greeting and serving of guests. Checks function sheets against actual room setup; oversees personnel for special functions, and may help supervise service personnel. Handles client complaints. Maintains past and potential client files. Schedules calls/visits to assess on-going needs of prospective clients for catering services. Develops catering budgets, reviews financial reports and takes corrective actions, as necessary, to assure that budget goals are met. Helps guests with parking, entertainment, decorations, audio/visual, and any other requirements integral to the success of the event. Represents members' needs and interest on applicable club committees. Obtains necessary permits for special events/functions. Attends management meeting to review policies and procedures, upcoming business, and to continually develop quality and image of banquet and catering functions. Tracks new products and trends in food service and catering applicable to the club. Helps ensure the security of club assets at all times. Keeps inventory of all linen, service pieces and silverware; informs manager of low stocks for replenishment. Plans professional development and training activities for subordinate staff. Performs special projects as assigned. Responsible for oversight of entire dining room and banquet staff operations. Responsible for hiring, training, disciplinary actions, and scheduling for areas of oversight. Performs other duties as assigned. May be required to drive a government vehicle in performance of official duties. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualifying Experience: Experience in food and beverage operations, particularly for large dining facilities and special functions. Responsible experience related to the management of hospitality services, including planning, organizing and responsibility for services provided. Such experience may have been acquired as a manager or supervisor of a function in a full- service food establishment, hotel/motel, fast food, or limited service food/beverage facility. Must have experience as a supervisor. Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently. Must have experience of protocol for civilian and military functions and knowledge of Cater Ease (or similar) software application.

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
