This position organizationally aligned under the Chief of Connected Care, with coordination and input from the Virtual Care Coordinator (VCC) and the Facility Telehealth Coordinator (FTC) in the Office of Connected Care at the Chalmers P. Wylie VA Ambulatory Care Center (757), Columbus, OH. The incumbent is responsible for implementing, directing, integrating, and evaluating of MVAH (MVAH; formerly known as My HealtheVet) and VA Mobile Applications.
Duties
The Virtual Care Assistant (VCA) serves as a liaison between all the MVAH programs and the patients. The VCA is responsible to make
patients aware of MVAH and all its programs, enroll the patient in this on-line service and to help patients troubleshoot any issues.
Serves to promote awareness of and participation in MVAH, Cerner Patient Portal and Secure Messaging. Objectives vary according to current needs such as encouraging participation of patients and assisting them to complete.
Functions as a liaison among staff, patients, MVAH Coordinator, and the Facility Telehealth Coordinator (FTC) to identify and communicate local MVAH-related needs.
Assists and trains patients using MVAH kiosk/computer. Staffs MVAH Center and mans the MVAH phone line.
Researches background information to become knowledgeable of details associated with MVAH and Secure Messaging. Collaborates with MVAH Coordinator and FTC to ensure patients are given the correct information and training about the program.
Ensures accountability via written communication as it relates to MVAH as each of these communication skills contributes importantly to the way VHA communicates with Veterans, Congress, our dedicated volunteers, the public and employees. Identifies problems and
applying analytical techniques for the purpose of resolving issues.
Assists in the development, implementation, maintenance documentation of MVAH internal and control policies and procedures. Collects, develops, implements, and documents data to assist management with MVAH operational decisions.

Utilizes interpersonal communication skills to deal with Veterans who are difficult, hostile, or distressed, working with co-workers, supervisors, and high level management, and negotiating.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 09/16/2024.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.

You may qualify based on your experience as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
Provides program support and financial services.
Responsible for effective operations, organization and training through assisting, advising, validating, and consulting with clinic and administrative services.
Providing advisory and technical assistance to veterans and their families, professional staff, and other medical centers.
Applies analytical and evaluative methods and techniques to issues or studies concerning the effectiveness of programs..
You will be rated on the following Competencies for this position:

Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.
Physical Requirements: Work is primarily sedentary, but may require periods of standing during presentations, briefings, speeches, helping patients, etc., although some slight physical effort may be required. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
