THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION THAT REQUIRES MILITARY MEMBERSHIP.
This National Guard position is for a ELECTRONIC INTEGRATED SYSTEMS MECHANIC LEADER (AIRCRAFT) (2), Position Description Number PDD2820000 and is part of the Mississippi National Guard.
Duties
As a ELECTRONIC INTEGRATED SYSTEMS MECHANIC LEADER (AIRCRAFT) (2), WL-2610-12, you will perform work involved in installing, troubleshooting, repairing, modifying, calibrating, aligning, and maintaining the complete electronic integrated systems on Army National Guard helicopters.
1. Passes on to other workers instructions received from supervisor, and starts work (e.g., assigns immediate tasks to be performed by individual members of the group led). Insures that needed plans, blueprints, material, and tools are available, and that needed stock is obtained from supply locations. Checks work in progress and when finished, checks for compliance with supervisor's instructions on work sequence, procedures, methods, and deadlines. Urges or advises other employees to follow supervisor's instructions and to meet deadlines; demonstrates proper work methods. Obtains needed information or decisions from the supervisor on problems that come up during the work. Provides information to supervisor on status and progress of work, causes of delays, and overall work operations and problems (e.g., additional on-the-job training requirements for individual employees). Assures that safety and housekeeping rules are followed (e.g., assures that machine capacities are not exceeded and that tools are properly used). Shows others proper trade techniques and practices and explains safety precautions to be followed in setting up equipment, and gives instruction in the use of test equipment, measuring devices, precision instruments, and safety devices.
2. Maintains a current knowledge, and answers questions of other workers on procedures, policies, written instructions, and other directives (for example, technical orders). Performs the diagnostic troubleshooting, analysis, repair, rebuild and modification of aircraft, which includes responsibility for the primary and final alignment of the total aircraft system. Conducts training sessions designed to update, improve, or upgrade the knowledge and skills of others. Performs visual and dimensional check of the aircraft systems to detect loose or broken connections; damaged or defective, parts; corrosion of the integral integrated electronic, and contributing mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
3. Works along with other workers and sets the pace for overhauls, repairs, rebuilding, modifying, testing, installing, adjusting, as well as the primary and final alignment of the complete integrated aircraft system, its subsystems, and components; and their contributing optical, mechanical, electrical, and/or hydraulic systems, ground to air data link radar, electronic countermeasures, secure voice, and data processing. Demonstrates proper work methods and performs the duties of a WG-2612-12 in addition to leadership responsibilities. Performs diagnostic tests and isolates subsystems malfunctions, using standard and special test procedures. Makes connection of major systems to appropriate consoles and test instruments and utilizes a wide number of logical troubleshooting routines and techniques to detect and isolate the location/cause of malfunctions and other insufficiencies to the lowest level(s) required. whether it be a systems, subsystem, or components. Makes such repairs or modifications and replacements required, or causes them to be done, to correct malfunction or improve function. Makes necessary repair, changes, etc., to integral systems to bring to alignment. Repairs, corrects and balances integrated systems to make final alignment of the total aircraft system. Utilizes the assistance of lower grade workers IAW assigned work requirements, utilizes blueprints, drawings, schematics, technical manuals, DMWRs, supply manuals, technical and special orders, specifications, etc. Uses a large number and variety of special tools, computerized test equipment as well as the more common tools of the trade to test, repair, modify, assemble, and align the various aircraft systems, etc., systems which have extremely close and precise operating tolerances and specifications into the integrated system.
4. May be responsible for the handling and storage of Aircraft ordnance for installation on aircraft as required (e.g., Cartridge A/C Fire Extinguisher, Thruster Cartridge, Squibs, Initiators and Cord Assembly). Transport Aircraft ordnance following established safety precautions, security procedures, and documentation requirements. Maintains annual certification required for handling of ordnance. May participate in aerial flights, which are defined by applicable Army publications for Maintenance Test Flights, for the purpose of observing, recording, and diagnosing malfunctions with digital test equipment, or otherwise assisting in determining the performance of aircraft components. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.
MILITARY MEMBERS WITH BONUSES: Upon acceptance of a military technician position military members who are currently receiving a military Reenlistment/Extension Bonus (REB) or GI Bill-SR Kicker may lose incentive eligibility and may be subject to termination or suspension of incentive (includes indefinite and temporary technicians on assignment for more than 180 days in any continuous 12-month period).
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must possess experience or training which demonstrates the applicants knowledge of installation, repair, overhaul, fabrication, tuning, alignment, modification, calibration, and testing of electronic equipment and related devices such as radio, radar, loran, sonar, television, and other communications equipment; industrial controls; fire control, flight/landing control, bombing-navigation, and other integrated systems; and electronic computer systems and equipment.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must possess at least possess at least 24 months of specialized working experiences in performing, training and/or supervising assigned integrated systems repair and maintenance work operations; Must have working and training experiences in the maintenance, repair, and modification of integrated multi-complex avionics systems; Skilled in planning tasks for subordinate workers and expanded knowledge in using the equipment, facilities and materials; Skilled in meeting deadlines, in using time management to satisfy priorities and work assignments based on general work schedules, methods, and policies set by higher level supervisors; Experiences included redirecting individual workers and resources to accomplish unanticipated work; Skilled in articulating work requirements to higher level supervisors and experienced in planning current and future work schedules, budget requests, staffing needs, estimates, and recommending projected work; Competent in researching and addressing work related problems such as, excessive costs or low productivity; and, determining the relevant causes; Experiences included implementing corrective actions, within authority, to resolve work problems; Must have the skill and knowledge to plan work and manage leave schedules; Capabilities include the ability to determine the types and levels of training needs, along with providing mentorship and guidance to subordinates for their professional skill and knowledge improvements; Experienced in writing FWS 2610 performance standards and provided subordinates with formal appraisals of their work performance; Experiences involved advising and counseling workers on how to improve their performance through explanations and demonstrations of work techniques
