About the Position: Works under general supervision receiving general or special work assignments, outline of priorities and deadlines, guidance on changes in regulations, policies, and procedures, and supervisor is readily available for assistance on unusual or difficult problems.
Duties
Operate a personal computer to input, store, retrieve, and manipulate data.
Possess a basic knowledge of diagnoses, procedures, CPT codes, ICD-9 codes, clinic codes and clinical care processes to gather and complete reports.
Assist in conducting Risk Assessments throughout a medical treatment facility.
Utilize automated systems to create memos or reports within an organization.
Screen telephone calls and visitors into a medical office.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- A qualified typist is required.
- A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
- Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
- Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes utilizing office automation software and healthcare automated systems to enter and retrieve data for reports, files, or correspondence; reviewing risk management information within a medical treatment facility for trends to improve processes; transcribing meeting minutes for an organization; and greeting guest both telephonically and in person to decern the nature of the request and direct to appropriate personnel. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).

Proficiency Required:This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5-minute sample with three or fewer errors.
