This position is located at the Blackfeet Service Unit, Division of Administrative Services, Branch of Facilities Management Services, Browning, MT. This position provides services to both the Browning Hospital and Heart Butte Clinic.

Duties

The Utility Systems Repair Operator will work with boilers, furnaces, pressure vessels, air handlers, chillers, medical air and vacuum, electrical systems, various pumps and equipment. Possesses third class high pressure boilers license. The USRO will perform preventative maintenance on air handlers, various boilers, chillers, gas systems, water systems, and other systems on the Medimizer Preventive Maintenance (PM) Schedule (soon to be WEBTMA). Must Maintain and monitor the operation of equipment using a computerized control system. The incumbent will be required to operate the Johnson Controls (JCI) Metasys Computer, DX9100 devices, various remote panels and fire alarm protection system. The USRO must fully understand all computerized printouts and relate them to the blueprints. The USRO will be required to make repairs, such as seals on pumps, kits on team traps and valves, kits on faucets, adjustments on thermostats, and humidistats, and other hospital equipment including automatic dishwashers, freezers, air compressors, garage door operators, etc. Installation and repairing of various piping, systems and related equipment. Qualifications

BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: There is no specific length of training or experience required: However, applicants will be rated on the basis of their responses to the Occupation Questionnaire that you possess the competencies to perform the duties this position without normal supervision, and the information contained in their resume. Physical Effort: Incumbent must be capable of work in confined spaces and other isolated areas. Work for extended periods in uncomfortable positions. Work typically requires bending, stooping, crawling, and climbing ladders. Workers frequently lift and carry boiler parts and chemical supplies weighing up to 40 pounds unassisted and occasionally items weighing over 40 pounds with assistance from other workers and handling equipment. Working conditions: Physical stamina is required because of the high temperatures encountered while working adjacent to and inside the boilers. The boilers must be periodically cleaned and inspected both inside and outside. Operators must be capable of tolerating the confined space within the boiler. The dust, dirt, soot, and fumes sometimes requires the use of a respirator while working. Operators are subject to cuts, abrasions, from tools and equipment, burns from acids, caustics, hot water, steam and contact with piping and boilers. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
