The primary purpose of this position is to troubleshoot, layout, repair, overhaul, modify, install and perform preventive maintenance on numerous types of fixed and semi-fixed production machinery, equipment, and systems that have complex interrelationships among components.
Duties
Troubleshoots malfunctions, performs repairs, modifications and or overhaul on fixed and semi fixed production machinery and equipment that involves complex interrelationships among components.
Performs preventative maintenance and inspection of shop machinery and industrial equipment to include cranes, hoists, material handling equipment, man lifts, and golf carts if applicable.
Operates, maintains and controls tools and equipment.
Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established rules and regulations and maintains a safe, clean, and secure work environment.

- The duties of this position require the employee to operate a motor vehicle. An appropriate, valid driver’s license is required.
- Employee is required to push, pull, reach, walk, stand, crawl, kneel, bend, climb and work in cramped, awkward positions over and under machinery, of all types for sustained periods of time.
Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C.
QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the Equipment Maintenance Family. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

JOB ELEMENTS: Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of fixed and semi fixed production machinery and equipment that involves complex
interrelationships among components, sufficient to independently troubleshoot, repair, modify, overhaul, align, test
and maintain assigned machinery and equipment.
2. Practical knowledge of the mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems and components of diverse industrial
production machinery and their attachments. This includes detailed knowledge of the operating characteristics of
the involved machinery, equipment, and systems, their functional relationships, and the applicable installation and
repair procedures, methods, and trade practices.
3. General knowledge of the electrical/electronic mechanisms and devices of assigned equipment sufficient to
distinguish mechanical, hydraulic, or pneumatic failures from those which are electrical or electronic.
4. Knowledge of safety, environmental, and security regulations, practices, and procedures.
5. Skill to interpret complex drawings, sketches, wiring diagrams, multi-view blueprints, manufacturers'
handbooks, technical manuals, schematics, and block diagrams and the ability to use shop mathematics, standard
formulas, trade theories, industry practices, sufficient to calculate needed materials, determine critical dimensions
and key reference points and the methods, techniques, and procedures to use in completing repairs.
???????6. Skill in the use of hand tools, portable machines, power tools and a variety of test equipment and measuring
devices, such as alignment scopes, veniers, micrometers, dual indicators, precision levels, transits, strobe
tachometers, bearing bridge gauges, flow meters, hydrostatic testers, and vibration analyzers.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
