This position is part of the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA), at the Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum. This position serves as a lead associate in the absence of a supervisor for sales store clerks at the Museum Store. The Museum Store serves large quantities of visitors a year, fills mail order requests each year, and maintains an inventory of various items.
Duties
As a Sales Operations Assistant, you will:
Utilize the Point of Sale (POS) system for all aspects of inventory control including the purchasing and receiving of merchandise, monitoring inventory levels, and producing necessary reports.
Maintain an active list of potential suppliers to ensure that merchandise of satisfactory quality can be procured on a competitive basis.
Maintain the receipts and storage of merchandise or merchandise rejection when warranted.
Ensure the general public fully understands and accepts the rules and regulations under which the Museum Store must operate.
Participate with the supervisor in conducting analysis of museum sales operations and report findings, making recommendation for improvement to the museum sales operations.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: For the GS-05, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes:
Performing merchandising, procurement, inventory control activities, retail and/or mail order sales; AND
Preparing and maintaining reports; AND
Utilizing computer technology and software programs.
OR
EDUCATION: You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows: Successful completion of 4 years above the high school.
OR
COMBINATION: You may qualify by a combination of experience and education. Options for qualifying based on a combination will be identified in the online questions.
In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:
Advancement to positions up to GS-5: Candidates may be advanced without time restriction to positions up to GS-05 if the position to be filled is no more than two grades above the lowest grade the employee held within the preceding 52 weeks under his or her latest non-temporary competitive appointment.
