About the Position: About the Position: This position is with USAJFK SPECIAL WARFARE CENTER & SCHOOL, FT Liberty NC. USASOC, ranked as the #1 best place to work in all Army subcomponents. This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA)-Medical to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Duties

Serves as the Supervisory Psychologist for USAJFKSWCS Psychology Section. Utilizes unique and state-of-the-art interview, psychometric assessment and indirect psychological assessment to evaluate the reliability and overall suitability of all candidates for highly specialized positions internal and external Serves as a senior behavioral health provider and referral source for unit members and their families. Responsible for the psychological assessment of candidates for the Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape (SERE) training and operational assignments

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Incumbent must obtain and maintain a TOP SECRET security clearance.
  • Drug testing is required. In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, the incumbent of this position must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to employment and periodically thereafter.
  • Must hold a current state license to practice psychology.
  • Meet Service requirements for independent practice and maintain current credentials with a sanctioned DoD medical authority.
  • Must be willing and able to participate in temporary duty in CONUS and OCONUS. TDY may constitute up to 25% of time.
  • Will undergo psychological screening.
  • Must be willing to participate in stressful, physically demanding training. Specifically, the incumbent must be a SERE Level C Graduate, or must agree to become RTL qualified.
  • A one-year supervisory probationary period is required.
  • One-year probationary period is required.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Basic Requirement for Psychologist: Degree: Doctoral Degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) directly related to full professional work in clinical psychology. You MUST submit a copy of your transcripts with your application. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes serving as a special officer to the Commander General by continually conducting program evaluations to include special research investigations designed to test program effectiveness. Serving as consultant to other operational and clinical psychologists, licensed clinical social workers, behavioral health specialists, and other medical staff. Developing overall assessment methodologies, both for psychologists and other evaluators, advising on any technical problems that may exist while recommending and developing new solutions. Communicates the results of the evaluations, taking full professional responsibility for the findings, interpretations, decisions, recommendations, and reports. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Selective Placement Factor: This position requires applicants to possess a current, active, valid, unrestricted counseling/psychologist license from a U.S. State, District of Columbia, Commonwealth, territory, or jurisdiction. NOTE: You MUST submit a copy of your license or certification with your application package or you will be rated ineligible. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-13).
