About the Position: Serves as an Explosives Operator Inspector (MVO) for Pine Bluff Arsenal.
Duties
Inspect all workstations in a chemical munitions manufacturing area.
Use a variety of gages and inspection aids in performing inspections and functional tests.
Prepare a variety of detailed reports listing results of inspections and tests.
Perform functional tests for in-process acceptance of various munitions.
Operate a vehicle up to 10,000 pounds (typically a pickup) to transport explosives.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires a secret clearance.
- Must have or obtain within 6 months of employment a Class C CDL with a HAZMAT endorsement.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- This position is covered by the 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968. Persons convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence are not eligible for the position.
- This position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) subject to pre-employment drug testing and random drug testing during employment.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to Inspect. Ammunition operation duties include performing inspections and functional tests, receipt, manufacturing, storage, packaging, renovation, modification, demilitarization, destruction and shipment of a wide variety of conventional munitions, small and medium missiles and/or toxic chemical filled munitions. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

Physical Effort: Duties involve walking, standing, stooping, bending and lifting items weighing up to 40 pounds and occasionally lifting items weighing in excess of 40 pounds. Work requires manual dexterity and mental, visual and muscular coordination. Physical effort is light to moderate. Work requires reaching, turning, or moving hands, arms, feet, and legs to operate hand and foot controls.
Working Conditions: Work is performed inside and outside. Buildings have cement floors and some are heated or air conditioned. Occasionally work is of a dirty greasy nature and there is noise from production type machinery and power conveyors. Incumbent is occasionally exposed to weather extremes and must wear protective mask, special gloves, shoes, and other safety clothing when working with chemicals and gases. Works mostly outside and operates vehicles in all kinds of weather. Is exposed to dirt, fumes, and to the possibility of cuts, bruises, and broken bones as a result of accidents when loading and unloading the vehicle. Employee performs work in an environment which subjects him/her to disagreeable or hazardous noise levels which are considered environmentally unsafe without the use of protective gear. Employee is provided and must wear approved hearing protective devices; therefore, adverse health effects to the employee are eliminated. Danger to self due to exposure to unusually hazardous agents is compensated by premium pay, and no credit has been given this element in establishing the grade level for this job.
