Duties

Establish, develop and maintain effective working relationships with other Air Force Research Lab directors, managers, mission partners, Higher Head Quarters, community/civic leaders and local/state/federal law enforcement officials. Meet with key customers and coordinating officials to assess customer satisfaction, explain organization policy and procedures and resolves significant problems that arise. Make comprehensive assessments and evaluations of the unit's goals/objectives which provide a basis for long- range planning to enhance the management support capabilities of Security Forces. Responsible for establishing, reviewing and revising policies, procedures, mission objectives, and organization design to eliminate work problems or barriers to mission accomplishment, promote team building, implement quality improvements, or in response to concerns with legal compliance and/or customer requirements. Collaborate and plan with other command managers and appropriate supporting organizations to negotiate, decide on, coordinate and/or integrate organization operations and interests of other organizations.

  • This position requires the following certifications IAW with AFI 36-2645: Physical Security Certification (PSC).
  • This is a "Key" position; this entails continued performance of duties and responsibilities during periods of national emergencies and/or mobilization.
  • You may be required to take part in readiness exercises; that you must be removed from military recall status; and that you may not join a reserve unit during your mobilization.

Qualifications

Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, with no IOR and Group Coverage Qualification Standard for Administrative and Management Positions. Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to at least the DR-01/GS-11 (or higher grade) within the Federal Civil Service (or equivalent in an alternate pay system). Specialized experience is experience in that demonstrates knowledge of a wide range of security specialties, concepts, principles, criteria, requirements, technology, and practices; Establish, develop and maintain effective working relationships and objectives with other directors, managers, mission partners; establishing, reviewing and revising policies, procedures, mission objectives, and organization design to eliminate work problems or barriers to mission accomplishment. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-­grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the DR-01/GS-11 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the DR-01/GS-11 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Problem Solving Communication Business Management Teamwork and Leadership PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
