The primary purpose of this position is to Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair single and multiple fuel heating boilers, power boilers and associated auxiliary equipment, pollution control equipment, hot air furnaces, and similar equipment systems.
Duties
Starts, operates, adjusts and stops single or multiple fuel power boilers and auxiliary pollution control, and other equipment.
Maintains, repairs, and tests a variety of complex equipment and systems.
Performs Journeyman-level system maintenance, diagnosis and repair of chemical feed and coiler/cooling tower blow down equipment as well as plans and lays out installation, repair, and/or modification of a variety of complex equipment and systems.
Troubleshoots single and multiple fuel power boilers and associated auxiliary and pollution control equipment.
Utilizes established safety practices, rules, regulations and procedures to maintain a safe and clean work environment.

Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C.
QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-4700 General Maintenance And Operations Work Family. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.
