This position is located in Office of Field Operations, Field Operations Directorate, District 24, San Juan PR Field Office. As an Immigration Services Assistant (OA), you will Support the Adjudication Services Process by assisting Immigration Services Officers, manage files, databases, and correspondence, provide security checks, research, and analyze data, prepare reports and provide direct service to internal and external stakeholders.

Duties

The responsibilities described are for the full performance level. At developmental grade levels, assignments will be of more limited scope performed with less independence, and limited complexity. Manage and review highly sensitive information from supporting documentation related to a variety of both naturalization and/or immigration (I and N) case file types. Serve as A-file custodians in providing case file and data management support services to Immigration Customs and Enforcement (ICE) and Customs Border Protection (CBP) office units. Provide end-to-end support for naturalization ceremonies to include audits, secure certificate production and systems validation and reconciliation. Perform analysis on files, reports, and information systems and databases to update information and maintain data integrity. Perform quality assurance and quality control review of official digitized records created for immigration case files. Support incoming and outgoing mail operations within a field office to include inspection, processing, routing, and completion of activity logs and reports.

The qualifications for this position must be met by 11:59 PM (Eastern Time) on 09/17/2024. Current Federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the lower grade or equivalent grade band in the Federal service. The Time-in-Grade requirement must be met by 11:59 PM (Eastern Time) on 09/17/2024. Selective Placement Factor: You must be able to communicate effectively (i.e. speak, read and write) in both the English and Spanish languages? Your proficiency will be tested during an interview. GS-08: You qualify at the GS-08 level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience, which is equivalent to at least the GS-07 level in the federal government, that equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. You must have experience performing the following duties: Reviewing and screening immigration documents to ensure the consistency and validity of the data in the documentation submitted within the case and content management systems. Handling and safeguarding secure materials in support of processing in accordance with existing policy, guidance, and laws. Managing, maintaining and providing customer service support of appointments within a scheduling system. Ensuring official records, electronic and physical, are compliant within case management systems per existing immigration policy, guidance, and law. GS-09: You qualify at the GS-09 level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience, which is equivalent to at least the GS-08 level in the federal government, that equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. You must have experience performing the following duties: Serving as a local immigration records POC (Point of Contact), providing records management support to internal and external stakeholders. Creating, maintaining, and reconciling, physical and electronic immigration records. Assisting with staff inquiries regarding reviews of applications and/or petitions for immigration benefits. Reviewing and maintaining quality control over final work product.
