Duties

Serve as principal Public Affairs communication advisor to the commander, senior military and civilian officials, and other stakeholders. Establish and maintain professional working relationships with local news media representatives, business leaders and other centers of influence. Develop and implement communication plans to inform affected publics of ongoing initiatives. Integrate strategy and plans, public affairs operations, digital media, media relations, and community outreach in support of command objectives. Research, write, and edit material to produce in accordance with strategic communications efforts. Assign work to subordinates based on priorities, difficulty of assignments, and the capabilities of employees.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
