You will serve as a ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN in the Engineering and Planning Department of PEARL HARBOR NSY AND IMF.

Duties

You will plan, develop and coordinate the preparation of a complete non-nuclear Test and/or Work Control Program utilizing established procedures which include Tests, Work Authorization Forms (WAFs) and tagouts. You will process WAFs and tagouts. You will coordinate and direct all assigned tests with shops and ship’s force personnel. You will utilize engineering technician skills and knowledge during performance of submarine test procedures. You will assist in the development of new procedures for analysis and testing by learning new requirements, testing out new methods and procedures, and gathering test data for evaluation of the procedure. You will review and analyze Technical Work Documents, Project Directives, specifications, technical drawings, technical manuals, engineering standards, modifications and amendments. You will assist with reviewing the availability work package (AWP) and apply technical, operational and safety requirements in preparing work control and test documents.

  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

FOR GS-09: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-08) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: performing technical engineering work to include the installation, repair, or maintenance of mechanical and/or electrical systems; interpreting system diagrams, plans, or schematics; and executing written technical direction. FOR GS-08: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-07) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: performing technical engineering work to include the installation or maintenance of mechanical and/or electrical systems; interpreting system diagrams, plans, or schematics; and providing input to the written technical direction.
