The primary purpose of this position is to serve as secretary to the assigned organizational unit in the State Office, and to serve as the principal office administrative support position for the supervisor, related State Office staff and employees throughout the State.

Duties

Performs various duties in the areas of personnel, budget, timekeeping, travel, procurement, realty management and information processing which require a broad understanding and detailed procedural knowledge of administrative functions. Tracks suspense dates for Ag Learn, training, employee performance, awards, and other administrative actions. Receives telephone calls and visitors, services requests for information available from files, schedules, Business Plan, or NRCS directives system. Receives and controls mail, including receipt, processing, and transmitting of electronic mail. Serves as liaison with the Administrative staff at the State Office or others on National Service Delivery Teams.

Requirements

Qualifications

Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement including time-in-grade restrictions, specialized experience and/or education, as defined below. Time in grade: (e.g. one year at the GS-05 grade level for consideration for the GS-06 grade level). Specialized Experience: To qualify for the GS-06 level, you must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 level or higher in Federal service, or comparable experience not gained through Federal service. Examples of specialized experience include: Using a variety of office automation computer software and programs to prepare legal documents, correspondence, charts, reports, spreadsheets, etc.; a working knowledge of real estate and appropriations law, secretarial and office practices. Specialized Experience: To qualify for the GS-07 level, you must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 level or higher in Federal service, or comparable experience not gained through Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as: coordinating monitoring and performing all the clerical and administrative functions, duties, priorities commitments, policies, and program goals of an office. In addition, experience demonstrating knowledge of grammar, punctuation, format, and style to prepare correspondence, memorandums and other documents utilizing word processing and other automated systems.
