About the Position: This position is located at the Directorate of Medicine, Flight and Missile Medicine Department in 15th Medical Group Hickam, which is on the Island of Oahu, Hawaii.
This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation.
Advance in Hire may be authorized. This is only available for those candidates who are new to Federal service.
A cost of living allowance has been authorized for Hawaii at the rate of 8.90% (subject to change).
Duties
Coordinate patient scheduling activities of the medical facility to ensure a smooth flow of the daily services.
Resolve problems that arise from late appointments, emergencies, or walk-ins that could delay scheduled patients being seen in a timely manner.
Arrange medical appointments and determines patient eligibility for services.
Arrange for patient consultations with other departments/facilities for such services as electrocardiograms, physical therapy, x-rays, and laboratory tests.
Perform maintenance of medical records and reviews maintenance of medical records to ensure they are maintained in accordance with established guidelines.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Employees assigned to a medical treatment facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations or pre-existing immunity based on occupational risk, regardless of job series.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.
- Must be a qualified typist. This position requires a typing proficiency of at least 40 words per minute (WPM) based on a 5 minute sample with 3 or fewer errors.
- Employee must obtain and maintain a favorable result from a Criminal History Background Check (CHBC). This position requires at least one contact per week or at least four (4) contacts per month with children under the age of 18.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: using an automated information system to track and maintain information and records; and intake verbal and electronic messages. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).
OR
Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages
