The position is located in the Northwest Field Office (NWFO) within the Office of Self Governance and Self-Determination (OSG&SD). If selected for this position you will perform technical, and reoccurring financial management tasks related to financial management and accounting principles, procedures, and techniques.

Duties

Participates in planning the performance of financial management studies that involve the analysis of interrelated administrative processes, such as budgetary, financial, procurement, and property management functions. Recommends adaptions from established procedures to eliminate problems or to improve the current operations or operating procedures. Participates in the review and evaluation of financial systems for the effectiveness of internal controls and integrity of the organization's financial information. Analyzes processing flows, reviews data in reports and financial statements, and identifies abnormal trends and control weaknesses. Reviews and reconciles internal reports produced by the financial statements, and identifies abnormal trends and control weaknesses. Reviews and reconciles internal reports produced by the financial management system in order to determine compatibility of prior month's status, and processes adjustments to correct or update. Prepares reports and statements that contain timely, accurate and essential financial management information.

Qualifications

GS-07: To qualify for this position at the GS-07 grade level you must have one year experience at the GS-05 grade level or equivalent performing the following: 1) Experience preparing, entering, or reviewing financial system transactions; 2) Experience resolving errors in financial transactions or reports; and 3) Experience providing customer service. OR 1 full year of graduate level education or superior academic achievement. GS-09: To qualify for this position at the GS-09 grade level you must have one year experience at the GS-07 grade level or equivalent in all of the following areas: 1) Experience preparing, entering, or reviewing financial system transactions; 2) Experience resolving errors in financial transactions or reports; 3) Experience providing outstanding customer service; 4) Experience providing training to financial system users; and 5) Experience testing updates to an integrated and automated financial system. OR A master's or equivalent graduate degree; two (2) full years of higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree; a LL.B. or J.D. degree; or a combination of the experience and education. All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement. Merit Promotion candidates must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the announcement closing date.

One academic year of graduate education is considered to be the number of credits hours your graduate school has determined to represent one academic year of full-time study. Such study may have been performed on a full-time or part-time basis. If you cannot obtain your graduate school's definition of one year of graduate study, 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) should be considered as satisfying the requirement for one year of full-time graduate study.

If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must send a Certificate of Foreign Equivalency with your transcript in order to receive credit for that education which shows the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
