The primary purposes of this position is are to perform duties of a store worker and to operate a motor vehicle. Incumbent works in one or more of the departments within the store and performs a variety of duties In addition to the operation of a motor vehicle, the incumbent may occasionally be required to operate an electric, diesel, or gasoline powered fork lift. Duties

Serves as the Store Worker (MVO) in a Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA) at the Fort Knox Commissary. Also performs a variety of store worker duties involved in the handling, marking, preparing, and maintaining of stock levels of grocery items. Usually works in an assigned department within the store (e.g., grocery, produce, meat, etc.), but may also perform rotational assignments within all departments. Position responsibilities include: Motor Vehicle Operation: Drives a refrigerated truck carrying perishable and nonperishable items for the Fort Knox Commissary. The vehicle gross weight will not exceed 26,000 pounds and is driven on specific trip assignments over public roads (or the equivalent). Incumbent is responsible for the safety and security of the vehicle and cargo and adjusts driving methods in order to avoid accidents and to assure the best utilization of time. Incumbent maintains required paperwork on the vehicle and coordinates driving routes with the supervisor. Incumbent may operate a forklift, pallet jack or other similar material handling equipment to load and unload the truck. The incumbent performs a full range of store worker duties required in support of the commissary. Maintaining adequate stock of resale items. Identifying any obvious spoilage, damage, and out-of-date merchandise. Receiving supplies, equipment and resale items. Operating a computer system that calculates and marks prices, and determines weights of merchandise. Transporting items to shelving and display areas. Read the entire job announcement. Qualifications

Your resume should show your specific knowledge, skill, and abilities for this position in relation to each of the elements being measured. Examples of qualifying experience: Ensuring the proper care and handling of resale grocery items. Locating items for customers. Rotating stock, stacking containers, and participating in inventories. Operating a computer system to calculate prices and label merchandise. Arranging stock on shelves and in displays. You will receive credit for all relevant qualifying experience (paid and unpaid), including volunteer work done through National Service program (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Physical requirements: The work requires continuous walking, standing, bending, or stooping, and using arm movements to fill the store's shelves and counters and load/unload trucks. The incumbent frequently lifts or moves heavy boxes or crates weighing up to 40 pounds, and occasionally over 40 pounds with assistance. Work environment: Most of the work is performed in the store display areas which are well lighted and maintained at a comfortable temperature The store aisles are often crowded with customers and grocery carts. When working in the storage area or loading dock, the incumbent may be exposed to hot or cold weather or damp or drafty conditions. May be exposed to differences in temperatures in storing or obtaining items in refrigerated rooms. There is a danger of minor injuries such as cuts, scrapes, and bruises, or heat sealer burns. When performing driving duties incumbent operates a motor vehicle in all types of traffic and weather on public roads. Is exposed to the danger of serious accidents.
