This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: This position is located at the Directorate of Public Works - Fort Myers, Virginia.
Duties
Responsible for developing engineer plans, engineer designs, engineer drawings, specifications and cost estimates.
Reviews engineering drawings, plans, and specifications to ensure compliance with appropriate statutory, regulatory, and policy controls.
Administer contracts as Contracting Officer Representative (COR).
Conducts survey of project sites and inspects contractor work during and upon project completion.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Job requires use of military driver’s license and/or occasional flights in military or civilian aircraft as needed for travel on official business.
- Temporary Duty (TDY) travel is occasionally required.
- This position requires a pre-employment physical and an annual physical once appointed to the position.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience in the Federal service which includes developing engineer plans, designs, drawings, specifications, and cost estimates for a variety of projects of considerable scope and complexity. Reviewing drawings prior to project start to include checking drawings, layouts, controls, sizes, and dimensions, specifications for material and equipment; and administering Contracts as Contract Officers Representative (COR). This definition of specialized experience is typical work performed at the next level in the federal service (GS-10).
Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone-no substitute of education for experience is permitted.
